Description

Ah..so shortly after my birthday last month, I had a serious cold (I guess I must've ran a fever twice without knowing. i hardly listen to my body when it tells me these things, like "visit a doctor for once" or "give us some credit, stay in bed"- yeah anyways..) and was pretty lethargic and achy and couldn't do much (not even play Zelda I was so weak) during that time. Luckily, my friend Emily gave me this anime boxset for my birthday called Maburaho.
I had serious doubts about viewing it because it had these on-the-verge-hentai girls on the covers, and I don't like that kind of anime..but, of course, you shouldn't judge a book, or dvd boxset, by it's cover, because I ended up falling for this story~

It was quirky, cute, funny and actually suspenseful. It's about a 'great wizard' named Kazuki, who attends a prestigious wizarding academy, but is rather average despite his lineage of famous wizards and witches. Yet in this universe, each magical person has a specific spell count. After they spend all their magic points that person turns to dust. So the higher the magic count (ranging in the hundreds to thousands), the stronger the witch or wizard: usually. But Kazuki only has a spell count of five. So if he uses up all his magic...he's dust. But his magic is of phenomenal strength, so it's pretty awesome when he does use it...but he can't use it all, because he'll go poof.
Anyways, then there's these three girls (look, alliteration!). One, Yuna, shows up out of nowhere and proclaims that she's Kazuki's wife. (Kazuki obviously doesn't remember this crazy girl but is such a sweet guy that he just blushes and runs away when she gets into her crazy-wife mode) She has pink hair (with pigtails) and actually received my disdain by the end of the series (I rarely outright dislike characters, unless they're like Umbridge)
Two, Kuriko who is a rich heiress and also quite powerful as a witch. She's interested in Kazuki because of his genes, which will probably produce the next greatest wizard. So with her family pressuring her, she pursues Kazuki good-naturedly and overtly flirtatiously (much to Yuna's despair and frustration).
And Three, and my personal favorite, Rin, who is an impressive kendo fighter, is also directed by her family to pursue Kazuki (because her once noble family is losing major standing). She is not so thrilled to 'woo' Kazuki, and often beats Kazuki whenever misunderstandings abound.

Naturally, they all grow to love Kazuki...and I won't say anymore, but this series is really good. Some neat plot twists are in store. (and that ending: YES)

So I drew sketches for this anime, because 1) it was enjoyable and 2) it kept me entertained when I was miserable. I recommend this show to those who like shojo or magic anime/manga. Plus, the protagonist, Kazuki, is so adorable and sweet and charming~ Aw~~

Now onto the sketches...

Top left corner: Kazuki casting a spell (a.k.a my practice with anatomy)

Top middle: chibis of Kuriko hugging Kazuki, much to Yuna's derision (KAZUKI! D<).

Top Right: first drawing of Rin

Middle Left: Elizabeth, who is a cute, yet slightly lecherous girl-ghost.

Middle Center: The landlady of Kazuki's building. She looks so pretty~ I also could've sworn I drew her years ago without her glasses and everything, but maybe it's a coincidence...

Middle right: Kazuki catching Rin's hand when she accidentally falls...I doubt she would do this because she's like a samurai, but I wanted to draw characters clasping hands (more practice) and I didn't have room to draw them both on level ground. So..improvisation!

Bottom left: Kuriko listening to Yuna's whining, and Yuna being her jealous self (I really don't like Yuna)

So yeah, that's that.
I hope people who've seen the anime enjoy this, or even those who haven't (but I do recommend it~)

*and the title comes from the fact that the anime episodes are titled like: "He saw it", "I broke it", "They arrived", "She came". (kinda cryptic/suggestive if you ask me, lol but it's actually a PG 13 anime)
